X-Men And Deadpool Team-Up Movie From Ryan Reynolds In "Early Stages" At Marvel Studios

Following the success of Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds is "exploring ideas" for a potential Deadpool movie that would see the Merc with a Mouth team-up with the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the biggest events in The Multiverse Saga was the arrival of Wade Wilson in the MCU, with the X-Men rights now back at Marvel Studios. As Reynolds had previously teased that he may be working on a new MCU project with Deadpool, a new exciting report is offering more clues on how the mutants are going to be used in the franchise.
In a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, the trade revealed that Reynolds is developing ideas for a possible Marvel Studios movie that would see Deadpool and X-Men characters team up. While the untitled movie will involve X-Men characters, this is separate from the X-Men reboot that Michael Lesslie is writing for Marvel Studios. According to THR, Reynolds" MCU film is in "early stages" and is said to involve between three and four X-Men characters, while Deadpool would be a "supporting player."
What The Deadpool & X-Men Movie Report Means Close As exciting as the news is about a Deadpool and X-Men team-up film, there are multiple factors to take into account as it pertains to the overall MCU. To begin with, given that this is in the early stages, this doesn"t mean the same thing as being greenlit, as this could end up not happening at all depending on how the script writing goes for Reynolds and whoever else may be involved. As of right now, the untitled X-Men and Deadpool project doesn"t have a director attached or a targeted release date.
However, what this report shows is that Marvel Studios wants to explore the X-Men in more ways than just their own ensemble film, but also with characters like Deadpool. If this is one of the projects they are prepping for Phase 7, the time makes perfect sense as the mutants will be having a bigger spotlight in the MCU timeline after The Multiverse Saga. Whether or not Reynolds" team-up film gets addressed by Marvel Studios at something like San Diego Comic-Con, which is in only a few months, remains to be seen.
Marvel Cinematic Universe The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a multimedia superhero franchise that began in 2008 with Paramount's Iron Man starring Robert Downey Jr. The franchise quickly grew in popularity, with Disney eventually buying out Marvel Entertainment in 2009.
